Really enjoyed this. Love the animation style and funny script. Nice work.

I'm very happy to hear it. And thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. :)

After the depressing ish I just watched this is refreshing.
Silly but funny.
The audio matched the tone of the toon.
The art was simple but matched the style of the short.
Well directed.
nice toon

Good entries.
I think #6 for me was the funniest.
but now I want a donut.

when do entries open and close?

rubberonion responds:

haha right?! he wrote a whole song about it which we'll play on the RubberOnion Animation Podcast probably next week or the one after when we talk about all these.

as for your question: entries are due by the end of the month and use #RubberOnionBattle on Instagram (which limits these entries to 15sec or under). topic this month is "Worst Video Game!"

The animation was really good.
I didn't enjoy the raps.
The clunky flow stood out to me as a long time rap fan.
People who don't listen to rap will probably enjoy it.

The story of the track was good.
I did like the beat.
I thought the colour selection was nice.
The animation style was simple but effective.

Looks like a lot of work went into it.
Overall a good, polished short. Great stuff!

JohnnyCarbon responds:

Thanks man, appreciate the feedback!

I liked the art style.
Interesting narrative, I thought it was pretty funny.
It was well acted and the audio was good quality.
Nice toon!

Domonization responds:

nice message, i enjoyed the animation and character style.
Great job!

Yassinius responds:

Thanks!

For what it is, it's okay.
I have trouble scoring progress vids with more than 2 stars.
It's more annoying if the actual project never is completed.
Make sue I get to see a finished version!

Fear is a part of art, but once you don't give a fuck you can embrace your vision.
No matter how good anything is, people are going to like it and hate it.
except game of thrones....every body loves it.

so at the end of the day all that matters is that you can learn and grow from it and enjoy the time working on it. I always say that the reward is the finished project, not the accolades.

Now to the story/ storyboards..

Very western, very middle class story.
I think anyone who is not that, will have trouble being engrossed, having said that if it's your story, tell it.
It might be hard to look at the situations of this as stressful if you have spent your childhood sleeping on the street and scrounging for food, battling a terminal illness, etc, etc.

I didn't see any clear resolution of dealing with the stress, more just tolerating it.
But also to reiterate my point from above, is liking a girl stressful? Is being a toddler drawing on walls and playing with a ball in a house stressful?

As far as the ending goes again I'm lost. ,unless you are trying to leave the audience feeling empty and confused.

I am unsure of how interested the audience will be in a story where the main character has no real challenges in life, yet is freaking out over his naggy wife calling and his boss telling him hes not working well. Maybe we wan't to see him man up, and get a handle on shit, instead of freak out.

I get the vibe you are going for. You have some shit inside that you need to get out, or at least want to take the viewer on an emotional journey. In my opinion , it is a little too grounded in the mundane. So it never really struck a chord with me.

I think you should check out (although you already probably have)

They are the style i think you are going for. Both do it very well and you never lose the point of the story. It might help you tighten up some of it.

Finally, don't take this as fact, i am one dooshebag, get a bunch of opinions and then follow your instinct. If this is the story you want to tell tell it.

Looking forward to seeing the final animation!

the fact i too feel my story isn't strong enough to convince the audience is totally true.I had to do something with the topics that could help anyone with social issues so i chose this.but anyhow i wanted to do something crazy really really crazy. But that's all past now i have lost all the passion and vigour .I cannot assure you whether i ll be successfully passing this year with a bachelors degree or will i able to complete my project .It is horribly distressing that at this point of time i am dealing with attention disorders.please bless me with luck i need it very much .

Nice animation.
The tween frames need a little more refinement but still really good.
I would have liked some sound in there to help invite me to the world.
You could think of doing some more interesting angles to help break up the shot and lengthen the toon.
The colours were nice.

The highlight for me was the background , nice colours and great depth.

When i use a pan shot like that and i only have one subject to frame i try to make it a little slower so it is less jarring to the audience.

acillustrations responds:

Thanks a lot! I will definitely try to add more to it next time.

Very funny.
Fantastic art work.
I like the adult nature of it, wasn't over the top just enough for a bit of fun.

The spider man motion was terrific. Schlick! Woosh!
The only criticism i have is that i think you could have added a rip sound effect, won't put a spoiler but you know when.

Great work!!!

RyanStorm responds:

thanks man!
I was actually contemplating doing sfx for this, but I didn't wanna ruin the same feel the original had. In hind sight I do think it would've been a little better with sounds

Since you are young and just starting out, I will try give some pointers.
That was not very good for animation.

You had a cool drawing in there, so do some of that and animate it.
There are loads of great animation tutorials out there but start here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHu2KNu6TtJ0p4hpSW7Yv7Q

You should work on a script before recording or improve your improvisation skills.
If you have trouble writing you can collaborate with a writer on here.
People aren't really interested in blooper reals when there is no other work to go with it.
You need to try watch mouth noises when you record, so do a recording then listen back.

Keep at it, looking forward to seeing some of those cool drawings brought to life!

officalrubix responds:

Thank you for the feedback! C: I appreciate it.
